Electric Stoves Distributed to Indigenous and Dalit Students in Kathmandu Valley

The Alternative Energy Promotion Centre has begun distributing electric stoves to indigenous and Dalit students living in rented rooms in the Kathmandu Valley under its Clean Energy Programme. The distribution started last Tuesday, with 250 students receiving stoves so far.

The initiative is intended to help students cope with the rising price and limited availability of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), which many rely on for cooking.

Clean energy support for students

The programme was launched through a joint effort by Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha and Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Deepak Kumar Shah.

The distribution focuses on indigenous and Dalit students living in rented accommodation in the valley. The centre is providing electric stoves as an alternative cooking option through its Clean Energy Programme.
