The District Administration Office in Kanchanpur has urged people living along the Mahakali River to remain alert for two days as the Dhauliganga hydropower project dam gates in Dharchula, Uttarakhand, India, are set to open for silt cleaning.
The gates will remain open for 48 hours, from 1 am on Saturday, Ashoj 17, to 1 am on Monday, Ashoj 19. The administration warned that the Mahakali River’s water level may rise during the period and asked residents in riverside areas to take precautionary measures.
