Community dogs in Dolakha and Dhankuta are being neutered and vaccinated against rabies through separate municipal campaigns aimed at controlling the dog population and preventing the disease.
In Dolakha, Bhimeshwar Municipality held a week-long campaign on the occasion of World Rabies Day, with technical support from the Nepal Animal Welfare and Research Centre. A total of 140 dogs were neutered and vaccinated, according to Gorkhapatra Online.
Dhankuta campaign targets market-area dogs
Dhankuta Municipality has also launched a campaign to neuter and vaccinate community dogs in its market area. The effort involves a veterinary hospital, News of Nepal reported.
Both campaigns seek to manage the community dog population while reducing the risk of rabies through anti-rabies vaccination.
