CIAA Files Corruption Case Against Five in Dhanauji Procurement Scandal

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case at the Special Court in Kathmandu against five people, including the then chief administrative officer of Dhanauji Rural Municipality in Dhanusha and a media operator.

The accused are alleged to have embezzled state funds by creating a dummy copy of a newspaper to conceal a bidding process and bypass public procurement rules. The case was filed on Tuesday.

Allegations over the procurement process

According to the case, the newspaper copy was used to hide the bidding process. The accused are alleged to have used this method to get around the rules governing public procurement and embezzle public funds.

The five accused include the municipality’s then chief administrative officer and a media operator. The case has been filed at the Special Court in Kathmandu.
