The District Government Attorney Office in Kathmandu filed a case at the Kathmandu District Court on Thursday against 20 individuals and institutions over alleged embezzlement and money laundering involving Himalayan Re-Insurance Limited.
Businessman Deepak Bhatt is among the defendants, along with former Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry president Shekhar Golchha, then-chairman of the Nepal Insurance Authority Surya Prasad Silwal, and Himalayan Re-Insurance CEO Upasana Poudel, according to a report by Ratopati.
Charges in the Himalayan Re-Insurance case
The case was filed on charges of misappropriating company funds and laundering assets. The allegations are now before the Kathmandu District Court.
