Industrialist and Nepali Congress leader Binod Chaudhary has announced his candidacy for party vice-president at the 15th General Convention in Kathmandu. Gandaki Province Chief Minister and Nepali Congress central member Surendra Raj Pandey has also entered the race for the post.
Chaudhary announced his bid on October 5, saying he wanted to help establish younger leadership and open a new chapter in Nepal’s economic transformation.
Chaudhary calls for younger leadership
Chaudhary said his candidacy was intended to support the emergence of younger leaders in the Nepali Congress. He also linked his bid to the goal of advancing Nepal’s economic transformation.
Pandey also announces candidacy
Pandey, who serves as Gandaki Province chief minister and is a central member of the party, has announced his candidacy for vice-president as well. He was previously close to outgoing Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba and vice-president Purna Bahadur Khadka.
