Farmers in Bhojpur district are increasingly turning to commercial macadamia nut farming, attracted by the crop’s resistance to damage from monkeys and the good prices it fetches in the market.
Jeevan Thapa, a farmer from Nepaledanda in Shadananda Municipality-1, has been cultivating macadamia nuts commercially since 2076 BS. He brought the saplings from Pokhara.
Macadamia cultivation expands in Bhojpur
Commercial cultivation of the crop has recently begun expanding among farmers in the district. Its relatively low susceptibility to damage from monkeys is one reason farmers are showing interest, alongside the prices it commands in the market.
