The Beni-Jomsom road in Mustang has remained completely blocked for six days after heavy rainfall from Asoj 8 to 11 triggered floods, landslides and river cutting. The closure has disrupted the transport of fuel and caused a shortage of petroleum products in the district.
The fuel shortage has affected work on the Beni-Jomsom-Korala road as well as development projects run by federal, provincial and local governments.
Road closure disrupts fuel supplies
The Beni-Jomsom road is part of a national pride project. With the route blocked, fuel transportation to Mustang has been disrupted, leaving petroleum products in short supply.
Development work affected
The shortage has affected construction and development activities across Mustang, including work on the Beni-Jomsom-Korala road and projects at all three levels of government.
