21 Karnali Taekwondo Players Selected for 10th National Games

Twenty-one taekwondo players from Karnali Province have been selected for the 10th National Games following a province-level selection tournament held in Jumla. The competition brought together 93 players from eight of Karnali’s 10 districts, according to Kabidatta Neupane, chief of the Sports Development Committee in Jumla. Humla and Dolpa were not represented in the tournament.

Provincial selection held in Jumla

The tournament served as the selection competition for Karnali’s taekwondo contingent at the 10th National Games. At its conclusion, 21 players were chosen to compete for the province at the national event. The number selected is therefore a portion of the 93 athletes who took part in the provincial competition; the available information does not specify the selection criteria or provide a breakdown of the selected players by district, age group, gender or weight category.

Neupane said players from eight districts participated. With Humla and Dolpa absent, the competition included athletes from the other districts of Karnali Province. The reports did not provide further details about why those two districts had no representation, and their absence does not change the selection outcome announced for the province.

93 athletes took part

The participation of 93 players gave the selection tournament a province-wide scope, although athletes from every district did not attend. The event was held in Jumla, where the Sports Development Committee’s chief confirmed the turnout and the selection of the 21-player group. The reports identify the tournament as a Karnali Province-level event rather than a district-only competition.

The selected players will now compete in taekwondo at the 10th National Games. Their selection establishes the group that will represent Karnali in the sport, but details such as the names of the athletes, their competition categories and the schedule for their events were not included in the information available about the announcement. The National Games are identified as the next competition for the selected players.

Karnali’s team advances to the national event

The selection gives Karnali a 21-player taekwondo contingent drawn from the athletes who entered the provincial tournament. The announcement is the key outcome reported from the Jumla competition: 93 players participated, eight districts were represented, and 21 athletes earned selection for the national event. No further information was provided on the tournament’s individual results or on how many players came from each participating district.

The provincial selection process also makes clear that participation in the Jumla tournament was not universal across Karnali’s districts. Humla and Dolpa were the two districts not represented, while players from the remaining eight took part. The reports do not say whether the selected athletes will be announced in a separate roster or whether additional team arrangements will be made before the Games.

The selection was reported by Ratopati and Nepal Press. Both reports identify Neupane as the source of the participation and selection figures. The selected 21 players are set to carry Karnali’s representation in taekwondo at the 10th National Games.
