US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order temporarily allowing red diesel to be used in highway vehicles, in a move aimed at easing the impact of rising diesel prices in the United States.
The order, issued on Monday night, lifts restrictions on red diesel, which had been limited to off-road agricultural and industrial use. The fuel is tax-exempt.
Trump says order will offer relief
Speaking at a campaign event in Nebraska, Trump said the change would allow anyone to buy tax-free red diesel and provide relief to people facing soaring diesel prices.
The White House released details of the order, but the document itself has not been made public.
