Tilak Bahadur Malla has been unanimously elected district president of the Nepali Congress in Mugu, following the party's district convention at the district headquarters.
The convention drew a large presence of party cadres. Malla was elected from the faction aligned with Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Agreement reached before the convention
Malla had been expected to compete for the post against Khagendra Malla. However, the two leaders reached an understanding aimed at strengthening the party in the district.
