Study Finds 70 Percent of Nepalis Struggle to Afford Housing Costs

Seven in ten people in Nepal struggle to regularly afford housing-related expenses, according to an international study by Habitat for Humanity International. The findings were reported from Kathmandu on October 9, 2026.

The report, titled “Home at What Cost? Global Housing Research 2026,” found that 70 percent of respondents in Nepal have difficulty managing rising housing costs.

Housing costs remain a challenge

The study highlights the difficulty many Nepalis face in regularly paying housing-related expenses. Its findings were reported by Gorkhapatra Online and Nagarik News.
