India captain Shreyas Iyer struck his first T20 international century to guide the team to an eight-wicket win over West Indies at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. The victory gave India a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
West Indies, who batted first after losing the toss, were bowled out for 171 in 19.1 overs. India completed the chase with eight wickets to spare, led by Iyer's landmark innings.
Iyer sets a new record and climbs in rankings
Iyer also broke a record previously held by former India captain Virat Kohli. The century lifted him ten places to seventh in the ICC T20I batting rankings.
The result puts India ahead in the series, with two matches remaining.
