Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal leader Sharat Singh Bhandari has said that a “controlled democracy” is unacceptable to the Nepali people under any pretext. He made the remarks at the opening session of the Nepali Congress’s 15th general convention in Kathmandu.
Bhandari said Nepal is going through a serious economic, social and geopolitical transition. He stressed that cooperation and national unity among major political parties are essential to address the challenges facing the country.

Bhandari said parties need to work together to protect democracy, the constitution and the republic amid the country’s current transition. He presented cooperation and unity as necessary to face the challenges ahead.
He also warned that a controlled form of democracy would not be accepted by the Nepali people, regardless of the pretext used to justify it.
