Veteran sculptor Kalu Kumale will receive a Global Award posthumously in recognition of his contribution to traditional Nepali sculpture. The announcement was made by the organisation Infinity Service during a condolence ceremony for Kumale in Lalitpur on Saturday.
Kumale, known as Krodhkala Shiromani, was a recipient of Nepal’s first Lalitkala title. The award will recognise his work and contribution to the country’s traditional sculptural heritage.
Recognition of Kumale’s contribution
Infinity Service announced the honour at the ceremony held to pay tribute to the late sculptor. The Global Award will be conferred posthumously.
Kumale was regarded as a veteran figure in Nepali sculpture, and his work in traditional sculpture is the basis for the recognition.
