Gen Z activist Raksha Bam has responded to Prime Minister Balendra “Balen” Shah’s sarcastic social media remark about an event at Kathmandu’s Khulamanch, saying the Gen Z movement helped people without basic political culture reach positions of power.
Shah made the comment during the Nepali Congress’s 15th general convention. He said it was good that Khulamanch had been built well enough for a new party to hold an event there and criticize others.
Bam credits Gen Z movement
In a Facebook post on Sunday, Bam said people had shed blood, suffered injuries and been martyred during the Gen Z movement. She said that, as a result of the movement, people who lacked even basic political culture were able to become prime minister, ministers and lawmakers.
The exchange took place in Kathmandu and drew attention to tensions over the political role and conduct of leaders.
