Nepal’s Asian Games cricket campaign ended on Tuesday after persistent rain washed out their quarter-final against Sri Lanka at Korogi Sports Park in Nagoya, Japan. The weather prevented even the toss, according to the Cricket Association of Nepal.
Sri Lanka advanced to the next stage on the basis of their higher T20 ranking, while Nepal exited the competition despite topping Group A with three points.
Nepal’s Group A campaign
Nepal opened the group stage with a five-wicket win over Afghanistan. Their match against host nation Japan ended in a no-result after rain interrupted play.
Nepal scored 150 runs in that match at Korogi Athletic Park before rain stopped Japan’s innings. The teams shared the points.
With the quarter-final against Sri Lanka also abandoned without a toss, Nepal’s tournament came to an end.
