Nepal won two bronze medals at the 20th Asian Games in Japan, falling short of its pre-Games target of winning double-digit medals, including gold.
Several sports associations had expressed confidence before the Games that their teams would win at least one medal. The associations included karate, wushu, boxing and judo.
Nepal’s Asian Games medal expectations
The two-bronze haul fell short of the ambitions set before the competition. Nepal had entered the Games with a target of reaching double figures in medals and winning gold.
Taekwondo’s history at the Asian Games
Taekwondo has historically been Nepal’s most successful sport at the Asian Games. The sport has earned the country one silver and 13 bronze medals in previous editions.
