The Government of Nepal has unveiled the Seventh Customs Reform and Modernisation Plan (2083-2088), a five-year strategy to make the country’s customs administration fully digital, secure and aligned with international standards.
The plan will be implemented from fiscal year 2083/84 to 2087/88 B.S. More than Rs 7 billion is to be mobilised under the programme.
Digital transformation of customs services
The plan sets out a long-term goal of making customs services paperless, contactless and faceless. Its stated aims include modernising customs administration and bringing it in line with international standards.
