Nepal recorded 88,248 foreign tourist arrivals in September, a 12.1% increase from the 78,711 visitors recorded in the same month last year, according to the Nepal Tourism Board.
Arrivals from South Asian countries rose 23.9%, while the number of Chinese visitors doubled compared with September last year. The growth came as Nepal faced natural disasters over the previous two months.
September arrivals show year-on-year growth
The September total was 9,537 higher than the figure for the same month a year earlier. The increase in visitors from South Asia and China contributed to the overall rise in foreign tourist arrivals.
Growth despite recent natural disasters
The increase was recorded despite natural disasters affecting the country over the past two months, according to the summary of the Nepal Tourism Board figures.
