Nepal’s Speaker Dol Prasad (DP) Aryal addressed the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Tanzania, highlighting the inclusive representation of the country’s federal parliament and calling for climate parliamentary diplomacy.
Aryal said women make up 35 percent of Nepal’s House of Representatives, while 51 percent of its members come from various inclusive groups. He also noted that five members have disabilities and 37 percent of lawmakers are under 40.
Aryal calls for climate parliamentary diplomacy
In his address, Aryal called for the launch of climate parliamentary diplomacy, with priority given to inclusion, good governance, a digital parliament and climate justice.
He also recalled that Nepal’s Prime Minister Balen Shah is currently the world’s youngest prime minister.
