Nepal should strengthen its ability to spend available funds before seeking more climate finance, climate finance expert Raju Pandit Chhetri has said.
Speaking at an event organised by the Former Planners' Forum in Kathmandu, Chhetri said the international climate finance landscape has become increasingly challenging in recent years. He also noted that changes in the United States' role in climate and development assistance have affected the situation.
Strengthen spending capacity
Chhetri suggested that Nepal focus on improving its own spending capacity before demanding climate finance. His remarks come amid a more difficult international environment for climate funding.
