A cancer patient in Nepal has been treated for the first time with CAR-T cells developed and produced within the country. The treatment was carried out at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH).
The cells were developed and produced by the Center for Regenerative Medicine (CRM) Nepal. The case is being described as a historic achievement for Nepal’s cancer treatment and research.
A milestone for cancer treatment in Nepal
The use of locally developed CAR-T cells marks a first for Nepal. The treatment brought together work by CRM Nepal, which developed and produced the cells, and TUTH, where the patient received treatment.
