Nepal’s Department of Tourism has granted climbing permits to 648 mountaineers from 69 countries for the autumn 2026 season. The permits cover 20 mountains and 71 expedition groups, according to Department Information Officer Suraj Ghimire.
The group includes 485 men and 163 women. The Department collected Rs 238.5 million in royalties from the climbers.
Updated permit figures
Earlier reports put the number of permitted climbers at 637, with 68 teams set to climb 18 mountains. Those reports said Mt Manaslu had the most permits, with 500 climbers across 43 teams. The latest figures show increases in the reported totals for climbers, expedition groups and mountains.
