Ministry Begins Work on Senior Citizen Experience Bank

The Ministry of Women, Children, Gender and Social Minorities and Social Security has begun work to develop a Senior Citizen Experience Bank, an initiative intended to preserve and pass on older people’s lifelong knowledge, skills and experience to the new generation.

The initiative was announced on the occasion of the 36th International Day of Older Persons. Minister Sita Badi said senior citizens should be valued not only as people in need of care and protection, but also as national assets who hold knowledge, experience, skills and social heritage. The announcement was reported by Ratopati.

Preserving senior citizens’ experience

The proposed Experience Bank aims to help carry older people’s accumulated knowledge and skills forward to younger generations. The ministry has begun work on developing the initiative, though details about its structure and implementation were not provided.

Senior citizens as national assets

Minister Badi emphasized that senior citizens should be honoured as contributors to society and as a source of valuable knowledge and heritage, rather than being viewed solely as recipients of care and protection.
