Malaysia will increase its minimum monthly wage from 1,700 ringgit to 2,000 ringgit starting in June 2027, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced on Friday while presenting the country’s 2027 budget.
The increase will cover workers, including foreign migrant workers. More than 4 million workers are expected to benefit, including Nepali migrant workers employed in Malaysia.

The announcement comes as uncertainty continues in Nepal over the FWCMS case. The wage increase may be significant for Nepali workers, but the case remains a source of confusion in Nepal.
