An initiative has been launched to establish a tea testing laboratory in Jhapa, with the aim of making quality checks more accessible and preserving the market identity of Nepali tea. The facility is expected to benefit 38 tea industries in the region.
The proposal was discussed at an interaction among tea entrepreneurs and other stakeholders on Friday. The event was organized by the regional office of the National Tea and Coffee Development Board in Jhapa, in coordination with the Food Technology and Quality Control Division Office in Bhadrapur and under the initiative of the District Administration Office Jhapa.
Why Jhapa needs a tea testing laboratory
The planned laboratory is intended to make tea quality testing easier for industries in the region. Easier access to testing is also expected to support efforts to protect the market identity of Nepali tea.
