India and Pakistan will meet in the men’s cricket gold medal match at the 20th Asian Games in Japan, the first time the teams have faced each other in the final in the Games’ history.
India booked its place in the final with a 124-run win over Sri Lanka in Thursday’s second semifinal at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin. Sri Lanka were bowled out for 45 in 9.5 overs while chasing a target of 170.
Pakistan reached the final earlier after defeating Bangladesh by six wickets in the first semifinal. The gold medal match is scheduled for Saturday, October 3, at 10:45 am Nepal time.
