ICC Introduces Five-Run Penalty for Batters Who Waste Time

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has introduced new playing conditions for international cricket, including a five-run penalty for batters who waste time before facing a delivery, according to reports.

Under the new rule, a batter who is not ready to face the ball within the stipulated time will first receive a warning. A second offence will result in a five-run penalty for the opposing team.

New rules take effect from October 1

The revised playing conditions also include the use of the pink ball in Test cricket. They will apply to all international series starting on or after October 1.

Series that are already underway when the changes take effect will continue under the old rules.
