Global life expectancy has almost fully recovered from the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the World Health Organization said on Friday. The agency’s latest Global Health Estimates put life expectancy at 73.3 years in 2023, close to the 73.4 years recorded in 2019.

The figures indicate that the global average has nearly returned to its pre-pandemic level following the decline associated with COVID-19.
