Gagan Kumar Thapa has been elected president of the Nepali Congress at the party’s 15th general convention, securing 6,584 votes. His rival Shyam Krishna Khadgi received 375 votes, according to officials from the convention’s media centre and Election Committee.
Vote counting began late Friday night at the National Assembly. Kishor Singh Rathaur and Khadgi had also contested the leadership race. The results were reported by Onlinekhabar.
