Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal has returned to Nepal after attending the 81st United Nations General Assembly, saying the country’s participation marked an important milestone in promoting Nepal’s interests on the international stage.
Speaking to journalists at Tribhuvan International Airport, Khanal said he worked to strengthen Nepal’s diplomatic image and draw international attention to issues important to the country. He said Nepal strongly raised climate justice and other national concerns during the UNGA.

Khanal said Nepal’s proactive stance helped elevate its national interests and champion the concerns of vulnerable mountain nations. Climate justice was among the key issues Nepal brought to the international forum.
He also reported that the Prime Minister’s speech received praise internationally and that commitments were made for flood assistance. The remarks did not specify further details about the aid commitments.
