Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal has said Nepal’s diplomacy must be closely linked to the country’s economic interests and national prosperity. He called for economic diplomacy to become an integral part of Nepal’s overall development strategy.
Speaking at a program organized by the Asian Institute of Diplomacy and International Affairs in Kathmandu on Friday, Khanal said foreign policy should do more than expand political and diplomatic relations.
Diplomacy focused on economic outcomes
Khanal said Nepal’s engagement with other countries should also help promote trade, investment, tourism, technology transfer and job creation. He stressed that these priorities should be connected to the country’s broader development goals.
His remarks underscored the role of economic diplomacy in aligning Nepal’s international relations with national economic interests and prosperity.
