The European Union and China are set to hold talks aimed at easing growing trade tensions and industrial competition. EU Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic is scheduled to travel to Beijing on Thursday for two days of negotiations.
The discussions come as the EU faces a widening trade imbalance with China. The bloc’s trade deficit with China reached about 360 billion euros in 2025, driven largely by imports of electric and hybrid cars and other goods.
