Deputy Inspector General of Nepal Police Sudarshan Prasad Koirala says the police have launched proactive policing in flood-affected areas of Rasuwa to support security and management in the aftermath of the floods.
Koirala said special attention is being given to the safety and psychosocial health of people staying in holding centres. He also suggested relocating settlements and government structures in accordance with land-use policy to help reduce the risk of future flood damage.
Six police buildings destroyed
The Rasuwa flood completely damaged six police buildings, Koirala said. He suggested that land-use policy should guide where settlements and government structures are located to limit their exposure to future flood risks.
The report on Koirala’s remarks also noted the focus on security and the wellbeing of people staying in holding centres.
