Vehicular movement resumed on the Beni-Darbang road in Myagdi after the Infrastructure Development Office cleared debris from a dry landslide that had blocked the route for a week at Phaparkhet, on the boundary of Beni Municipality-4 and Mangala Rural Municipality-2. A representative of Mangala Construction said the road had been reopened for the time being.

Debris cleared at Phaparkhet

The landslide occurred at Phaparkhet, where Beni Municipality-4 meets Mangala Rural Municipality-2, and brought traffic on the Beni-Darbang road to a halt. The closure lasted a week, interrupting movement along a route that connects three local levels in Myagdi’s western belt with Beni bazaar.

The Infrastructure Development Office, Myagdi, removed the landslide debris to make the road passable again. With the blockage cleared, vehicles were able to resume using the route. The work restored traffic movement after the week-long interruption, although the reopening was described as temporary rather than a permanent resolution.

Raju Pandey, a representative of Mangala Construction, said the road had been opened for the time being. His statement indicates that vehicles can currently pass, but it does not establish that the route has received a permanent repair or that all risks associated with the landslide site have been addressed.

Route links western Myagdi with Beni bazaar

The Beni-Darbang road serves as a connection between three local levels in the western part of the district and Beni bazaar. Its closure therefore interrupted vehicular access along a route linking those areas with the district’s bazaar centre. The road’s reopening restores that connection for the time being.

The blockage was attributed to a dry landslide at Phaparkhet. The available information does not specify the volume of debris, the exact point along the road where it accumulated, or whether further work is planned at the site. It also does not provide details about the number or type of vehicles affected during the closure.

The clearance by the Infrastructure Development Office enabled movement to resume, but the temporary nature of the reopening remains important for road users. Pandey’s account confirms that the route is open for now; no further information was provided on whether additional repairs or preventive measures will follow.

Temporary reopening

For travellers using the Beni-Darbang road, the immediate development is the return of vehicular movement after seven days of closure. The route’s role in connecting three local levels in Myagdi’s western belt with Beni bazaar makes its availability significant to movement between those areas and the bazaar.

The road was reopened after the debris was cleared, rather than after a reported permanent reconstruction. Road users should therefore note the distinction between the route being passable at present and a lasting resolution at the landslide point. The Infrastructure Development Office carried out the clearance, while Mangala Construction representative Raju Pandey confirmed the road had been opened on a temporary basis.

No additional details were available about the condition of the road beyond the cleared section, the duration of the temporary opening, or any scheduled follow-up work. For now, the Beni-Darbang road is again carrying vehicles after the week-long interruption caused by the dry landslide at Phaparkhet.
