Former Nepali footballer and coach Balgopal Sahukhal has become the first Nepali coach to earn the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Pro Licence after completing a one-year professional coaching course in Australia.
The professional diploma course is recognised by both Football Australia and the AFC, marking a milestone for Nepali football coaching.
A first for Nepali coaching
Until now, Nepali coaches held AFC 'A', 'B' and 'C' licences, but none had obtained the Pro Licence. The qualification has been held by foreign coaches brought in by Nepali clubs for FIFA and AFC competitions.
Sahukhal’s achievement means he is the first Nepali coach to complete the professional course and earn the AFC’s highest-level coaching licence.
