PM Balendra Shah Says Integrity Is Essential for Police Inspectors

Prime Minister Balendra Shah told graduating police inspectors that ethics, integrity and honesty are essential for professional success at the pass-out ceremony of the 184th batch of Police Inspector Basic Training at the National Police Academy in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, on Sunday. He urged the graduates to fully internalize the lessons from their training and apply them in their professional conduct.

Shah’s message to the graduates

Addressing the ceremony, Shah placed ethical conduct at the centre of a police officer’s professional responsibilities. He described ethics, integrity and honesty as the first condition for success in the profession, making clear that technical preparation alone is not enough to meet the demands of police service.

His message was directed to officers completing the academy’s basic training and preparing to enter professional roles. Shah told them to carry what they had learned beyond the training environment and put those lessons into practice in their work. The instruction connected the completion of the course with the conduct expected of the graduates in service.

The ceremony marked the graduation of the 184th batch of Police Inspector Basic Training. It was held at the National Police Academy in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu. Shah’s address focused on how the graduating inspectors should approach their duties, particularly the importance of maintaining honesty and integrity as they begin their careers.

Training and professional conduct

Shah’s call to internalize the training lessons emphasized that learning should shape officers’ day-to-day professional behaviour. He asked graduates not simply to complete their course, but to carry its lessons into their conduct. The message framed training as preparation that must continue to guide officers after graduation.

By identifying ethics, integrity and honesty as the first condition for professional success, the prime minister highlighted character as a basic requirement for police work. His remarks placed personal conduct alongside the formal completion of training as an important part of becoming a professional police inspector.

The address offered the graduates a direct expectation as they moved from the academy into their professional responsibilities: apply the lessons they have received and uphold ethical standards in their conduct. Shah’s message at the pass-out ceremony centred on that link between training and practice, with integrity presented as essential to success in the police profession.
