The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has denied reports that internet service fees have increased, saying it has received no information from service providers about a price hike. The authority warned that providers charging customers more than approved rates could face action.
The warning was issued from Kathmandu on October 10, 2026, following media reports claiming internet prices had risen.
NTA warns internet and email providers
The authority said internet and email service providers must follow approved rates. It also warned against operating unauthorized services that could place an additional burden on consumers.
Providers found charging more than the approved fees or offering unauthorized services will face action, the NTA said.
No notice of fee increase received
The NTA stated that it had not received any information from providers about an increase in internet service fees. Its statement sought to address reports of a price hike and clarify that the authority had not been informed of any change.
