Nepalis across the country observed Ghatasthapana on Sunday, marking the first day of Navaratri. Families established the sacred pot and sowed jamara in their homes as part of the ritual observance.
In puja rooms and Dashain ghar, devotees performed Ghatasthapana rituals and invoked Shailaputri, the first of the nine forms of Navadurga, according to reports by Nagarik News, Ratopati and Nepal Press.
Worship of Shailaputri
Shailaputri is identified with Parvati, the daughter of the Himalaya. Her identity is described in religious texts including the Devi Kavach and the Markandeya Purana.
